DOG THEFT WARNING
Learn about current dog theft situations and how to keep your pets safe!
⚠️ Over the last few months, we have seen a worrying increase in dog theft in the UK. As the demand dogs continue, we are seeing thieves stealing dogs from parks, homes, and even directly out of people's hands.
We urge you to be vigilant, keep your phone on you, and follow some tips listed.
ALWAYS, report any suspicious activities you feel uncomfortable with the emergency services ⚠️
The Four Paws promise to protect your dogs:
🐾 We carry pressed air cans to spray at unwanted dog interactions. This does not hurt any animal. They just don't like the sound.
🐾 Alarms are carried for unwanted interactions from the public
🐾 Dog walking tags are placed on your dog during our time together with our name and number
🐾 Dogs are put on lead when approaching people and animals for their safety and your pets
🐾 Off leash dogs do not go more than 2 metres away from us
🐾 Recall training is constantly asked of your dog during our walks
🐾 Video footage is taken in uncomfortable situations with the public
🐾 We are always alert to our surroundings
🐾 We do NOT walk dogs that aren't microchipped and ask for proof of documents
🐾 We avoid areas that have been reported of dog theft
🐾 We avoid human contact, especially those who want to provide treats or pet your dog
🐾 Doors are completely locked and double-check on cars when collecting more than one dog
🐾 House doors are always double-checked when leaving your dog, and we provide a quick search of the area for unwanted behaviour
🐾 Dogs are never left unattended in gardens
🐾 Dogs are NEVER tied up to posts and left unattended
🐾 Volunteers are interviewed and documented to our policies. They will NOT know where you live unless you give them permission, which is them documented in your file.
🐾 Locations of walks or pop ins are never shared on social media
